A candid tale of 20-something humanness and extended note to self.

I've just seen 'One Day' at the cinema....

And it was lovely. Truly, and utterly lovely. I'm sure you've all seen that I reviewed the book a couple of weeks ago, and it's safe to say I was hooked on the love story that is 'Em and Dex', and couldn't wait to see how well it could be captured on screen. And despite quite a lot from the book being missing (let's face it, if the film had accounted for every single word, I would have been in there all  night), David Nicholls managed to turn his international seller into a fantastically written screenplay.

There was barely a dry eye in the house by the time it finished, and the lady sitting next to me, who quite evidently hadn't read the book, collapsed into a combined state of laughter and tears as soon as the credits started rolling.

You must, must, must go and see this film. Ignore the media massacre that heavily criticises the beautiful Anne Hathaway's use of a (not so) authentic accent, and go and watch it, because I'm sure you won't regret it. And anyway, you will be far too engrossed in the fierce chemistry between the characters, that the odd wobble will go unnoticed.

Oh, and Jim Sturgess... Where have you been my whole life?!

Have a good weekend everyone :) Embrace life, love and laughter, and never leave it a day too late to say how you feel.

(Told you it had turned me into a soppy, girly mess.)

Peace x

  4. I'm glad you liked it, I've read the book and am dubious about seeing the film, I guess you just have to realise books and films will never be the same. Dex and Em are so frustrating but it is soooo good! xxxx

  5. Yes, you definitely have to check it out! :) Obviously the book is always going to be a more intimate, detailed experience, but in its own right, the film is brilliant. Dex and Em are addictive!

I need to find my Dex! Xx

  6. I loved this film! And Anne Hathaway can do no wrong in my eyes so I wasn't really thinking about the accent x
