A prescription of hope

They say that love is a drug
and so I wish the whole world could get high
on stunning horizons,
and jiving,
and the way their bodies entwine in the darkness.

They say that love is a drug
and so I wish the whole world could just smoke
thoughts swathed in kindness,
pretty words,
and the way she buries them like treasure in her tender heart.

They say that love is a drug
and so I wish the whole world could get high
on spectacular sunsets
and passion,
and the way his soul alights when she smiles.

They say that love is a drug
and so I wish the whole world could swallow
unexpected kisses,
and courage,
and the way that latte warms her hands in the depths of winter.

They say that love is a drug
and so I wish the whole world could get high
on scatterings of stars,
and laughing,
and the way her fluid fingertips dance across his skin.
